The scenery is stunning and the site offers a great getaway that gives you the opportunity to enjoy a bit of wild camping with neighbours (other campers) and the luxury of toilets, (not the best I have seen).
When I visited in late April the site was clean, tidy and cranking up for the influx of campers.
There’s a variety of pitches from open grass to snug woodland all set over an area of 20 acres and no matter where you pitch your tent you will have breathtaking views.
Most of the grass pitches are located close to the site entrance, if you turn right and follow the track, it’s marked with white painted stones, you start to discover more remote and wild pitches, some are on grass and

Who’s it For
Due to its location Red Squirrel Campsite is popular with mountaineers and hill walkers it also treats you to a bit of a wild camping in Glencoe feel without heading to the bushes when you need the loo.
You may feel you are out in the sticks, however the site is only 1.8 miles from the local shop in the village of Glencoe, about a 40 minute walk and it’s a pleasant one that meanders through a densely wooded area.
Or if you require to stock up with a bunch of groceries there’s a Co-oP at Ballachulish which is just over 3 miles from the campsite.
You can’t help notice why the site location is popular with those who enjoy camping and want to walk the hills of Glencoe. What it lacks in posh facilities is more than made up with the access it gives to those who love the outdoors, the prices are affordable the atmosphere relaxed and a definite for those campers who want to discover the wonders of this fascinating area.

How to get there:
If you are arriving from the south, pass the Kings House Hotel on the right and the mighty
Buachaille Etive Mor on the left, carry on through the glen and look for the signpost on the right for the Clachaig Inn.
Take this right turn, it’s a single track road, go along past the Inn and further on you will come to the Red Squirrel Campsite, it’s on the left down in a little valley.

Arriving from the north take the left turn for Glencoe Village, drive through the village and you will come to a single track road, keep going it’s like driving through an enchanted forest.
